Care & Quality
How Long Does Solid Wood Furniture Last?
With basic care, a well-built solid wood piece will outlive its first owner. Here's what "basic care" actually means.

Solid wood furniture, properly built and modestly cared for, lasts generations. The dining tables we built thirty years ago are still in service today — many in the second or third home.
Keep wood out of direct sun. UV bleaches stain and dries the grain.
Use coasters. Water rings are the most common — and most preventable — damage.
Dust with a soft cloth. Re-apply a hand-rubbed oil finish once a year. Avoid silicone polishes, which build up and dull the finish over time.
And don't be afraid of patina. Small marks are the record of the life around the piece. They're part of what makes solid wood furniture worth keeping.
