Farmhouse vs. Rustic: What's the Difference?
They overlap — but they aren't the same. A quick guide to telling the two styles apart, and pulling the best from each.

Farmhouse and rustic are cousins, not twins. Both lean on natural materials and warm neutrals. But the personalities are different.
Farmhouse leans lighter: whitewashed wood, painted finishes, soft linens, woven baskets, and aged brass. The mood is bright, soft, and lived-in.
Rustic leans deeper: solid hardwood, dark leather, forged iron, copper, and cowhide. The mood is grounded, warm, and weighty.
Most Texas homes pull from both — a farmhouse dining room paired with a rustic living room, or a farmhouse kitchen anchored by a rustic dining table. The trick is letting each room commit to one direction while sharing a consistent palette throughout.
