Dining Room Design Tips for Rustic Homes
Sizing the table, picking the chairs, and lighting the room — three calls that make or break a rustic dining room.

Size the table to the room first, then to the household. Leave 36 inches of clearance on all sides for chairs and traffic.
Pick chairs that complement — don't match — the table. A solid-wood table looks best with leather or upholstered seating that softens the room.
Light the table directly. A chandelier 30 to 34 inches above the table's surface, sized to roughly half the table's width, is the rustic rule of thumb.
And leave room for a sideboard. Storage and serving space turn a dining room into one that actually gets used.
